The Liberty and Livelihood March converging on Whitehall near the Cenotaph on 22nd September 2002
The Liberty and Livelihood March was organised by the Countryside Alliance. Almost 500,000 people attended to “to highlight the concerns of the rural community”. The march was organised in two parts. People who earned their living in the countryside started their march from Upper Thames Street (near Blackfriars Bridge) while those who felt civil liberties to be the key issue marched from Hyde Park Corner. All the marchers converged on Whitehall and were counted through to Parliament Square. The marchers were asked to pass the Cenotaph in silence.
