The Melton Breakfast

Engraving after a painting by Sir Francis Grant (1803-1878)

Sir Francis Grant painted two versions of this picture and this engraving has been taken from the earlier painting which was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1834.

The breakfast party are pictured in “The Old Club” a hunting lodge in Melton Mowbray.  The painting includes portraits (from left to right ) of Sir Massey Starley, Earl of Wilton, Count Metusivie, Lord Gardner, Mr Lyne Stephens, Mr Little Gilmour (Club Waiter), Sir F. Johnstone, Lord Rokeby, Lord Forester, Lord Kinnaird, Mr Errington (later Sir Roland).
